I'm delighted to feature Jessica MacNeil of Crazy Daisies Designs, a talented wife and mum to a 3 year old daughter, who enjoys the outdoors, loves to sew and makes the loveliest hip and tote bags Ive ever seen. Jessica tells us her story

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I am located in Fremont, New Hampshire I've been making and selling bags since 2003. I currently work for my Husband as a Graphic Designer. We own a Graphic Design/Web Design Business called Black Dot Design. In my free time I LOVE sewing and creating bags. Back in 2003, I had created my first bag and everywhere I went people commented on it and asked if I could make them one. I've made tons of custom bags in any color or theme. Which was tons of fun for me, since each bag I made was unique. No two of my bags are alike. I stopped doing custom bags after we adopted our daughter from China. I no longer had the time to make custom bags. So I started to sell on Etsy, that way I can make them when I can find the time and make some money on the side.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My feature item would have to be my Leafy Green Hip Bag, it's one of my favorites.

With the Holidays fast approaching this would be a fabulous gift for any woman in your life a Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, or Niece. This Romantic floral print bag with beautiful green leaf print is wonderful for a quick trip to the store, or to use when you go to a concert, or even to a fair. I've used this style bag MANY times. This bag can carry your cell phone, keys, lipstick and more. The inside of this bag is lined with muslin and has no pockets. The strap is made of a very strong ribbon and is meant to be worn across the chest. If you need the strap to be shorter you can tie a knot at the top to create desired length. The front flap has a button closure. It's a great size bag for any woman and at such a great price~

**Deals in my shop currently: All my Halloween bags are 10% OFF. Just make a note to seller during purchase and I'll refund your 10% through paypal.
**Also I'll Giveaway a FREE change purse with the purchase of any one of my bags! (Just purchase the change purse you want and I'll refund the money with paypal)

Today I'm delighted to feature Taylor Smith of O is for Olive, a lovely mummy to a little baby girl, who loves spending time at garage sales and antique shops where a keen eye to all things classic has led to a bounty for her shop. Taylor tells it herself....

What inspires you and where do you get all your interesting finds?

I started my Etsy shop when my daughter was a month old. I was staying at home with her and keeping up with the accounting for the rental properties my husband and I own, but I needed something I could do that was a little more creative. I was originally thinking it would be a baby shop, but it some how turned into vintage. I guess because I come across so many interesting things and I love being able to pass them on to people who I know will appreciate them.

I find my things through friends who are selling old items, in the corners of abandoned storage units, junkyards, covered with mud and dirt, under piles of old magazines, I always have my eyes open for good design!

I believe it is very important that we surround ourselves with the things that make us happy. With O is for Olive, I am passing on objects that I find and love to others who will place them in their home or give them as a gift, and that object will be something that that person sees and uses every day. It will become a part of their life and my hope is that it will make them happy. I love thinking of my items in other people’s lives. That is where I find my inspiration.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My featured item today is a set of four different audubon prints (I am selling each one separately). Each print is a full color drawing of a different species of bird, and all but one of the prints include both the male and female of the species. My husband found them digging through a bunch of junk. These were at the very bottom of the pile, in really good condition, because they were sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard. Whoever put them there obviously had no idea how amazing they are, and that's where I come in to bring them back to life! I hope to give them the recognition they deserve, and as a result pass them on to someone who will truly appreciate them! As an answer to the question "why can't people live without it", I would have have to say, you would probably survive without it but your walls would be bare and your future not nearly as bright....

ohh I like this answer its so ingenious....we do want a bright future.....

Taylor is currently having a Huge SALE on all of her GARDEN STUFF, so check out the sale section. Everything is AT LEAST 10% OFF the original price!

I'm delighted to feature Jamie of She's Batty Designs, a vivacious business owner, crafter, and university student and who describes herself as star-gazing, animal-loving and halloween obsessed. I think we can all see a little bit of ourselves in her. Jamie tells us a little more about herself and her paper products company.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

My name is Jamie Sabot and I'm located in London, Ontario, Canada.
I've always had a love affair with arts and crafts. It's hard to pin point the exact time when my works started to take a real form because it's been a lifelong process that is continuously evolving. My love of arts and crafts was what inspired She's Batty Designs. After attending Fine Art school and not feeling totally satisfied with the direction my art was headed, I threw out all the "rules" and "norms" that has been drilled into my head. I gather up a bunch of art supplies that inspired me, a few pictures, and a lot of glitter. I crafted like I was a kid again and made art that made me happy. It was very refreshing to make art that didn't have to have a purpose other than my own enjoyment. It was inspiring, and enlightening to drop all the Fine Art baggage and make art without a struggle. Friend and family members embraced my works so I decided to start offering them publicly via She's Batty Designs.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My featured item for this season is my paper ornaments. These seasonal paper ornaments also double as mini greeting cards. They are prefect to give to your friends and family to let them know you are thinking of them. After someone receives one of these paper ornaments and reads the special message that you'll write for them, they will want to hold on to them because they look super cute on holidays trees! They aren't just a mini greeting card, they are a personalized paper present that will be cherished for years to come. They can be purchased in a pack that includes 4 different designs or can be purchased separately. I'm welcome to large custom orders so if I don't have enough listed in my shop, feel free to contact me.

If your not in the mood for the holidays yet, these lovely creations will definately get you there......

Today I'm delighted to feature Rachel of Rasberry Kidz a wonderful artist and mum who's been turning her little ones art doodles into beautiful pieces of art. If your own little one at home loves to draw, she can turn those masterpieces into 3D computer art. Rachel tells it herself......

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I am located in Chicago, and my son Ethan got me started in this type of art. When he was a baby, I wanted to make personalized gifts for all the mom's from his playgroup. Each RaspberryKid was based on a baby from that group. Then I did more variations to cover more hairstyles and ethnicities.

Then, when Ethan started drawing, his artwork inspired me to start a whole other side of RaspberryKidz, one based on his pictures. That then led to me basing pictures on other kids' drawings, my favorite part of RaspberryKidz. In other words, it has been evolving over a period of time.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My featured item today is Jenna's Best Day.

It is based on a quick sketch my son drew a long time ago. I barely changed anything, except adding color. I LOVE this picture. It is so happy, so carefree. I don't know why he named it Jenna's Best Day. We don't know a Jenna. But I believe this is the perfect name. It will make you happy every time you look at it....and we all can't live without happiness!!!

I am attaching 3 pictures of Jenna's Best Day (the original drawing by Ethan, my computer rendition, and the printed piece, matted and framed). Find below as well some of the Raspberrykidz mentioned above.

A special offer: If you order a custom RaspberryKid (based on your child's drawing), you will get a second print for 1/2 off. This is a perfect gift for both sets of grandparents for the holidays! : )

I have a little angel myself who is beginning to doodle and this would be the perfect way to immortalise those first sparks of creativity....

Today I'm delighted to feature Beth of Chicken Scratch a wonderful artist whose forte is absolutely indulgent vegan bath and body products. She is constantly inspired by tropical blooms and eternal sunshine and you can see that creativity flow straight into her lovely products. Her other love is backstage theatre chasing after actors with their forgotten top hats and in between acts finding dark corners to crochet and channel her talents into something unexpected.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I'm live in San Diego, California and work backstage at a professional theater. I used to make spa baskets for the actor's opening night presents and people started to ask if they could buy more as gifts, or for themselves when they ran out. So I opened up an Etsy shop.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My featured item today is my Cranberry Fig Soy Massage Candle

The holiday season can be stressful for a lot of us, and we forget to slow down and take care of our bodies and spirits. My cranberry fig soy massage candle is full of good smells that remind me of childhood homecomings, the kitchen bustling with aunts and grandmothers, and sneaking tastes from cooling platters on the counter. I like to light one when I sink into a hot bath and let the aromas fill the room as my muscles relax. Then I use the melted oils as a moisturizer on my legs and arms after I towel off. Pure bliss!

mhhh......the scent of pure heaven.............you know you want some of this!

Today I'm thrilled to introduce Yifat of Yifat Bareket's Studio Shop. An extremely talented jewelry designer who uses her wealth of experience and some uniquely developed techniques to produce the most alluring creations. The mix of unique colors and shapes in her pieces has captured an audience with her collections being seen in galleries, museums and fashion magazines in Europe and Canada.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I am a proud mother of 4 children, married to a musician and sharing a jewelry gallery and a music studio in our backyard, in Padres Hanna, a small town in Israel, close to the Mediterranean Sea. The jewelry I create projects the strength of women and contains a complete world of energy, colors and memories.

I'm drawn to the colors and geometrical shapes of eastern ancient cultures and hence to the materials I work with. I see my jewelry as a link to ancient cultures which excites and stimulates my imagination and forms a rich and never ending source of inspiration. Another side of my work as an artist and jeweler is my ongoing interest in conceptual jewelry and artifacts. My more conceptual work has been displayed at art exhibitions throughout the world.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My feature item today is the Purple amethyst manadala earrings.

I love these earrings because of their brilliant colors, shape and energy. Handmade silver and gold filled earrings interweaved with moonstone gemstones around a setting of pearls, gold filled and shiny purple amethyst, creating an energetic streaming circle - Mandala.

“Mandala” is the Sanskrit word for circle. It is a symbol of the universe in its ideal form, and its creation signifies the impermanence of all material things in life. The gemstone Amethyst is known as the "stone of spiritually and contentment", and also promotes serenity, gratification and composure.

I'm so intrigued I'm hoping over to her shop to see more....

Today I'm delighted to feature Katrien Van Deuren of PilliPilli Handmade. A talented crocheter who creates the most adorable little plushies and cute characters that deserve a nice loving home. 'Pilli Pilli' is Swahili for those bright red, really spicy African chili peppers and she chose that name because she likes life colourful and full of flavour!

Katrien's blog was chosen as The creative blog of July 2009 by Marie Claire Idees

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I’m Belgian and I grew up just outside of Brussels, but last year I moved to a tiny village tucked away in the Northern Italian Hills. (I moved there for love of course…) Now, when I say ‘Tiny’, I really mean TINY. We’re about 200 inhabitants, so everybody knows everybody and that makes our village a cute little island, surrounded by an ocean of vineyards on one side, and forest on the other…

I don’t remember when I started crafting exactly, as I was already fumbling about with wool and glue and fabric scraps when I was just a little girl. I do remember the first hat I crocheted. I was about 14. One day I was out shopping with my mom, and I saw a gorgeous hat. I really wanted to have it, but my mother said it was way too expensive, and besides really easy to make. We made a deal that I would stop nagging about the hat, and she would show me how to make it. That day our shopping trip ended with a visit to a craft shop where my mom let me choose the wool for my hat.

And I’ve been crocheting, sewing and experimenting ever since!

Tell something about the featured item. Why can’t we live without it?

Our Featured item today are my Fake Fur Scarflettes

I started making these scarflettes by chance, really… I was almost exclusively making plushies those days, until one afternoon the telephone rang while I was stuffing a crocheted plush head. I closed it on the top wit a pin to prevent the stuffing from popping out … And it looked exactly like a little fox!

From there grew the idea to attach it to a scarf to make it look like those fur stoles posh ladies used to wear over their shoulders in the 1920’s… Then soon followed other animals, and now We’re one big happy ZOO!

Now these scarflettes are really a great catch if you’re hunting for fun yet wearable autumn fashion finds! I only use the softest 100 percent merino wool so besides being funky and colourful, they’re really comfortable and warm too! Ask my hands about the ‘warm’ bit.

(And yes, of course I wear them too… my personal favourites are Artie, the Arctic Fox and Bruno, the not so Grizzly Bear. So you see, they’re NOT jut for kids!)

Aren't they just adorable. Ive put up more pictures of the little scarflettes for you to enjoy. Now that the weather is soon changing I'm sure you'd love this.

Today I have the pleasure of introducing Penelope of Penelope G Designs, a talented jewelry designer whose study of color therapy has enabled her produce a diverse range of exotic jewelry lines inspired by her numerous travels.

Sample this: The Venice Collection, The Eliat Collection, The Hong Kong Collection…these are just a few of the many lines she carry’s in her lovely store. Truly unique and exquisite pieces.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

My husband and I recently moved to California from London after living there on and off for 5 years. We are South African born and bred and so have a very unique cultural perspective after having lived on 3 continents and traveled extensively. I have an art background after having majored in both practical and history of art in school. I have owned my own jewelry and accessories import business in Cape Town but have a very diverse career including IT support and business psychology! I was inspired to start making jewelry after I saw something someone else had made and thought - I can do that! So I taught myself, started slowly and have only been running since July 2009!

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

My featured item today is a Topaz & Yellow Venetian in Gold.

This is part of the Venice Collection - you can read more about each collection in my bio at my online store. The woman who wears Penelope G is confident and stylish; she enjoys feeling beautiful and having things that make her feel so. She enjoys having fun with her girlfriends, taking care of herself, the finer things in life but without the high price tag. She likes to wear jewelry pieces that are unique and stylish and will get her noticed!

Coming from the same continent as she does I feel my heart strings been tugged when I look at the pieces from the Cape Town Collection. As she says, they echo the rich mineral abundance of the African continent and people..and I couldn’t agree more.

Be truly indulgent. Visit Penelope G Designs today to see more.

Listen out all you Twilight movie groupies...yeah I'm talking to you! If you can't seem to get enough of your vampire fix you definitely love this amazing find.
Today I'm delighted to feature Jamie of Flutter Knits. She loves making things with her hands and is always trying new things, looking for new challenges and ways to express herself.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I live just outside of Pittsburgh, along the Ohio River in a little townhouse with a great patio garden. I began knitting as a relief from work and a way to socialize at my local independent coffee shop. Wednesday night was knitting club and the ladies taught me the basics for a scarf and I was off. Everything else I've picked up along the way has been self taught, though I have to credit You-Tube's instructional video's with my cabling ability!

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

Our feature item today is Bella's Grey Mittens from Twilight: The Movie

Bella's mittens are so warm and comfy. They are unusually long which gives them a luxurious fashionable edge, and the cables make them super thick. They are perfect if you live somewhere cold in the winter months (as I do) and the wool version are great to wear skiing or playing in the snow as they don't get as wet.
And why cant you live without them??? Because they're a replica of the pair worn by Bella Swan in the movie Twilight! and of coarse, every Twifan must have a pair in time for the release of New Moon in November (all pre-orders placed by September 1st will mail out in October in time for the November release)!!!

Sweeeeeet!

She's currently accepting pre-orders for Bella's Mittens. All pre-orders placed now will be shipped by October 20th with plenty of time to the release of New Moon. According to the preview we will be seeing a return of the famed mittens, so pre-order yours today and get them in time to wear to all your pre-movie parties.

I thought it would be interesting to feature some vintage sellers as well as they are part of what makes our Etsian community so vibrant. Today I'm happy to feature Krissy the "Queen B" from B.Inspired Vintage.

What inspires you and where do you get all you interesting finds?

I am inspired by bright and fun colors! You'd think I'd get desensitized by the endless sea of colorful kids toys throughout my house, but I never get sick of it. The little ones and I scour the flea markets, yard sales, and thrift stores for fun, colorful vintage goodies. It's like a treasure hunt full of tons of great surprises!

Today I'm excited to feature Tali Schiffer of Tali Schiffer-Oren Photography . A talented designer and photographer who owns a digital album design business and also created custom design digital wedding albums.

To quote from her Etsy shop her one basic principle is: "Do what you love, and love what you do". Because photography to me is not just a job, it is my passion. I want to create beautiful images, just as much as you wish to have them.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I live in Tel-Aviv, Israel and have been photographing as a profession on and off for the last 7 years. I was fortunate to back-pack through South & Central America years ago, and that's when I really fell in love with the camera. I continued on to study photography in Santa Monica, California, and I have been a avid "photographer" since. I have only recently decided to open a shop here on Etsy, and it has been up since end of May 2009.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

Our featured item today is the The Violin Player

My photography is meant to convey a mood, a feel, and what ever photo a client chooses it should be one that would bring the client back to that feel or mood whenever they glance at it. I am a big believer that surrounding yourself with beautiful images of places and people and things, enriches your life and your emotions!

As a budding amateur photographer myself I'm in awe of talented artists like Tali who can take their craft to the next level, share with the world and actually earn a living from what they love. Total and absolute respect.

I love her work so much Ive included more of her wonderful pictures here for your viewing pleasure. Do drop by her shop to see more of her lovely creations.

Today we step away from jewelry for a while and meet Angel Ray of MuseSilkPaintings, a truly wonderful artist inspired the patterns of life and nature around her. She has used this inspiration to create the most luxurious handmade scarves using a technique called silk painting.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I'm located in Valley Village, which is in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California. As many artists will tell you, I've been drawing since I was young. My mom would bring coloring books wherever we would go and I'd create little "masterpieces" all over the wall, much to the distress of my family. I majored in fine art (painting) in college and as I was developing my style, my paintings started taking on the look of quilts, almost - filled with different tiny patterns. I love repeated designs and that led me to Textile Design. I've been a professional graphic/textile designer in the corporate world for years which allowed me to grow my career.

Out of a desperate need to express myself creatively, I took various classes on the weekends to find the outlet I needed. I took a silk painting class once and I became completely hooked! Stretching the silk, pin by pin, drawing out all the linework with gutta - these things appealed to my obsessive traits. And of course, color combinations are something I've gained a knack for, so playing with the colored paint and watching it move and expand through the silk was simply a magical experience!

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't we live without it?

Our featured item is Through the Woods - Muse Scarf

How often can you wear a beautiful fashion accessory and honestly say, "This is the only one in the world!"? A MUSE scarf is truly unique, always has a theme and a whimsical name, and is always a great conversation starter. Simply throwing one on a simple outfit immediately dresses it up and adds lively color to your wardrobe! For a woman who appreciates the finer things in life, an affordable luxury piece like this is a real treasure and if properly cared for will last you a lifetime.

MUSE Silk Paintings however have a youthful, more playful feeling to them. They are for the high powered career woman or sophisticated socialite who doesn't mind turning heads wherever she goes.

My scarves take a really long time to create. Each scarf has been truly hand painted (no tracing) freehand and inspired by dreams and patterns. I could sit all day and fill page after page of my sketch book with different patterns - it's totally in my blood. That in fact, would be my definition of a fabulous day!

Oh we do want some of that luxury adorning our necks....

Do drop by her shop too see more of her fabulous creations.

I love finding new uses for old treasured bits...once they were so loved and then forgotten about...styles changed and something new and better was discovered.

New modern freshwater pearls look vintage when wire wrapped in oxidized brass. A bit on an old watch fob chain hangs as a dangle with a vintage brass heart. Our feature today comes from exotic South East Asia. A country steeped in ancient rites and traditions that have survived and thrived throughout the bumps and scrapes of history. Im talking about Vietnam, a country Ive been lucky enough to visit and where you will find Tho Dinh of Papillonjewelry who makes lovely feminine pieces that are vintage inspired.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

I come from Ho chi minh (Saigon), the largest city in Vietnam. After four years of college as a Pre-Counseling Major, I realized that I needed to nurture my artistic side instead of suffocating it and being "practical". I learnt to make jewelry as a hobby for that reason and it has kind of taken over my life since then. Playing with colors, shapes and textures in jewelry making not only allows my imagination to run wild but also encourages me to be more confident since sharing (and hopefully selling) my work with others as an artist/crafter is a way of sharing who I am to the world, which involves quite some "risk-taking" for an introvert/almost-hermit like myself.

Tell me a little about the featured item? Why can't I live without it?

My Greeny Earrings are a whimsy cluster of deep green glass brioletes, glass beads, faux pearls, silver stardust beads, stones and tiny leaf charms. My process of making it is like a little trip to the wood. You pick some flowers here and there. Then suddenly you end up with a beautiful bouquet without planning it at all. This pair of earrings can be described as fresh, feminine and elegant. I wouldn't say that you can't live without it 'coz jewelry is forever a luxury not a necessity; plus, it may not reflects you or your style. Only you can decide whether you want to miss out the pure bliss of adorning yourself with these delightful earrings.

And I must say I do agree with her...we know times are hard but can you really resist? I must mention too that its free shipping on all items in here shop. Now how can you beat that for value?

UNEARTHED

I'm delighted today to feature Cassandra of MetalloBianco, a jewelry designer whose pieces are inspired by bright colors and inviting textures. She enjoys making jewelry that is bold yet simple using chunky pieces of silver and stones rich in color.

Where are you located and what got you started in your current craft?

My love for creating jewelry began shortly after I moved to Atlanta, GA from Florida. I took a metalsmithing class at a local art gallery and I was immediately hooked! I love that I can turn sheets of metal and wire into gorgeous jewelry. I especially love making bangles and chunky rings using colorful gemstones.

Tell me a little about the featured item and why we can't live without it?

My featured item are my Wistful Bangles. The set comes with two Sterling Silver bangles and two Gold bangles. The bangles are hand-hammered which really give them great texture and sparkle. They are great everyday pieces, a perfect accent to any style and easy to pair with your other favorite jewelry.

I must say the mix of gemstone and metal in her pieces is simply stunning and she not only does bracelets but rings, earrings and necklaces too. Add a little flair and elegance into your wardrobe won't you?

As always first person to purchase from their shop AND gets back here to leave a comment to say that they did gets a free 1/4 yard of Japanese fabric of your choice(while stocks last) from my Japanese craft supplies shop.

To enter: Hurry on over to their shop take a look around and make sure you purchase...then get back here quickly and be the first to leave a comment that you made the purchase. Once I verify the purchase get ready for pleasant goodies in your mailbox.

Vintage Section - Reworking

I have updated the vintage section today but Im considering trimming this list to exclude the vintage sellers who specialise in supplies. I have been getting a lot of comments and thoughts in the forum saying that the list would be more relevant if I exclude the vintage supplies sellers and focus on 'true' vintage.

Im debating whether to exclude them because vintage supplies are still vintage..right? However the vintage supplies sellers are included in the Supplies category so mhhh?

Your thoughts would really be helpful
